St. Nersess Preaching Program Hosts Mid-Atlantic Clergy Seminar on Preaching for All Ages
The St. Nersess Preaching Program continued its clergy continuing education series with a three-day seminar, Preaching for All Ages, held June 10–12 at St. Leon Armenian Church, Fair Lawn, NJ, for clergy of the Mid-Atlantic region of the Eastern Diocese.
The seminar was led by Dr. Dave Csinos, Associate Professor of Practical Theology at Atlantic School of Theology in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He is also the founder and president of Faith Forward, an ecumenical organization dedicated to innovation in ministry with children, youth, and families. Dr. Csinos is a widely respected speaker and author whose most recent book is A Gospel of All Ages.
The seminar opened with an exploration of why preaching matters and the role it serves in the life and liturgy of the Church. Over six subsequent sessions, participants examined three key areas: preaching with adults, preaching with children, and preaching with all ages together. Through presentations, discussions, practical exercises, and opportunities to prepare and deliver brief homilies based on upcoming lectionary texts, clergy explored ways to communicate the Gospel effectively to diverse audiences. Throughout the seminar, Dr. Csinos emphasized the importance of proclaiming the good news found both in Scripture and in the world around us.
The content from this seminar will soon be available as Module 5 of the St. Nersess Preaching Program. All clergy of the Eastern and Western Dioceses will be invited to access the material free of charge through the St. Nersess Online platform. Clergy who already have an account may log in using their existing username and password.
