Preaching Program – New Modules Now Available!
Two new modules from the recent Eastern Diocese Mid-Atlantic Clergy Seminar (NJ) and Western Diocese Clergy Workshop (Northern California) have been added to St. Nersess Online.
Module 5, led by Dr. Dave Csinos, explores the purpose of preaching and its role in the life and liturgy of the Church. Through six sessions, participants examine preaching to adults, children, and intergenerational congregations while developing practical homiletic skills through discussion and sermon preparation.
Module 6 features presentations by three instructors:
Dn. Hovannes Khosdeghian on preparing faithful, Scripture-centered Sunday sermons and effective Armenian Public Speaking.
Rev. Nicholas Porter on Extemporaneous Preaching, introducing the iPad framework — Intention, Preparation, Awareness, and Delivery — for delivering authentic, conversational sermons.
Dr. Roberta Ervine on the role of Scripture in Armenian Preaching, drawing on the wisdom of the Church Fathers and their understanding of sermon preparation as nourishing the faithful.
In addition, clergy can access the growing Karoz library, which includes six translated homilies by classical and medieval Armenian Fathers on the Feast of the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God, ideal for use in upcoming sermons. A new Karoz installment for September’s Feast of the Holy Cross will be available in the coming weeks.
These modules are available free of charge to clergy of the Eastern, Western, and Canadian Dioceses through St. Nersess Online.
